Nell Duke is a professor of literacy, language, and culture at the University of Michigan. Her areas of focus are in the development of informational reading and writing and comprehension development with a focus on children living in poverty. She has received several awards from the Literacy Research Association, the American Education Research Association, International Reading Association, National Council of Teachers of English, and the Michigan Reading Association.
